Background
The insane amount of gifts (both test & real gifts) are really muddying up the gift catalog
It looks very unprofessional when we have things like this visible to all of our clients:
We then have to explain that it’s just our devs testing & it won’t influence anything.
it’s not the end of the world—and clients understand—but it’s a little embarrassing
There’s also the larger issue of some clients already having the kits in their catalog.
Ex: A client with a Gibson would see 5 other Gibsons from 5 other accounts
This makes the catalog unclear, and users don’t come back to the feature (which could be a big sales driver)
Solution
Stop pulling in Kits & Products into the Gift Catalog
Make a new object that’s exclusive to the Gift Catalog
This object is very similar to kits/products in terms of fields
The object is different in a few ways:
they are not orderable
They do not have:
SKUs
Inventory Threshold & Email
Chargeback Amount
Taxable $
They will have a multi-select field for the Company instead of a single select
This will pull into the selected companies
When a company adds a relevant kit, we will add a kit to their orderable catalog (via product management), and deselect their company from the list in the Gift Catalog
Mimic the Parent (Kit) Child (Product) relationship that the current Product Management has. I like how those products pull into the catalog table
Please keep the Gift Request tab in Super Admin the same
Add Price to the Gift Catalog table
Make the Gift Catalog only one table, instead of ‘All Gifts/Other Company Gifts/My Company Gift’
